  8. Enclosed please find a copy of a spreadsheet that I have
  9. written entitled Scheduler; I updated it on 2/15/93. I have
  10. developed this spreadsheet to help make my job easier.  I am
  11. a District Manager for a large company in New Jersey.  I
  12. don't think there is a program on the market today that will
  13. meet the needs my product addresses. Scheduler will allow
  14. you to type in the hours that an employee works and it will
  15. automatically figure out the hours that they will incur for
  16. the week, it also figures out overtime, subtracts break
  17. times automatically, sums up the total hours for the
  18. district for each day, and for the week. This is a very
  19. valuable service.  To help you see just how beneficial this
  20. is, try to calculate the number of hours an employee will
  21. have if he or she works Monday 10:00AM to 7:30PM, Tuesday
  22. 11:00AM to 8:30PM, Wednesday 9:30AM to 5:00PM, Thursday
  23. 9:15AM to 6:45PM, and Friday 8:00AM to 10:00PM.   It will
  24. probably take you at least a few minutes to figure it out;
  25. did you deduct break times? Multiply how long it took you to
  26. figure that out by 10 to 100 employees many with different
  27. schedules, and the time needed to accurately sum up the
  28. total hours by department, store, district, by each day, or
  29. for the week, and you will soon come to appreciate this
  30. product!  If you didn't get 45 hours you definitely need
  31. this product! In addition it also has a corporate calendar
  32. that will automatically set the date on the schedule
  33. correctly, the calendar has the current year, last year,
  34. next year, and the year after next. Furthermore it can be
  35. easily configured  for any companies fiscal year. Besides
  36. saving the manager a lot of time (time is money)! when
  37. making a schedule, it makes it very easy to update the
  38. schedule when people are late, call in sick or need to
  39. switch their schedule with other employees.  District
  40. Schedule also makes it very easy to cut hours and stay
  41. within your weekly hourly budget.  If your budget is very
  42. strict you could even update the times' employees have
  43. worked  after every day, to project your total District or
  44. Store Hours at the end of the week. There is also room for
  45. up to 7 employees in each store with up to 12 stores.There
  46. are three major versions to date two Quatro versions one has
  47. 8 stores and one has 10 stores, and One Lotus Version which
  48. supports upto 12 stores. You can also keep track of all of
  49. the employees phone numbers; the stores phone number, the
  50. direct line phone number, store address, and the Managers
  51. address, employees social security number. all of this on
  52. only one easy to read page. I have found this printout to be
  53. an  invaluable asset; so much so that during the day  I keep
  54. it with me at all times. I have also designed it so you can
  55. print out two different easy to read schedules, the first is
  56. a for your employees only and a second printout for your
  57. records.  Scheduler also keeps track of employees birthdays,
  58. sales averages, dates tardy, dates absent, counceling
  59. records, and other notes you may want to keep.
  60. Since I have originally designed Scheduler for Quatro Pro
  61. and have spent much more time with Quatro the Quatro version
  62. has been revised much more, and should be bug free. the
  63. lotus version only has one bug that I could not fix. If you
  64. try to delete a time with the delete key it will change the
  65. format of the cell and delete any lines drawn around the
  66. cell. Therefore make sure you use the space bar to delete
  67. things in Lotus, If anyone can help me fix this bug I would
  68. be very grateful.

  70. Scheduler can also be easily adapted for a store manager to
  71. keep track of his employees by department, and then sum them
  72. up by day, department, and store.  It can be adapted for
  73. more employees per store or department, and for more stores,
  74. or it can be made to be linked with other files if needed. I
  75. am sure that you will be interested in this product in some
  76. capacity  I hope you will agree with me, and find this
  77. spreadsheet a worthy asset to any manager that has to make a
  78. schedule. Before I designed this program my schedules always
  79. ended up being updated, and altered with a lot of  white
  80. out, I am sure you can imagine just how messy they became! I
  81. hope you will appreciate the neat print out and understand
  82. that if marketed it would become very useful especially to
  83. those managers who already use Quatro Pro, or use laptops.

  99. Scheduler should load into those little computers like the
  100. Wizard or Atari Portfolio since they have lotus 123 in them!
